A teenager is person between the ages of 13 and 19, who also can be called an adolescent. They are called teenagers because their age number ends in “teen”. Someone aged 18 or 19 is also considered a young adult.

All over the world, there are approximately 1 billion teenagers. In Nigeria, statistics reveal that more than half of the population are youths between the ages of 13 and 35 years. The teenage years are a transition stage from childhood to adulthood. At this stage of life, teenagers are very impressionable, moldable, energetic as well as creative.

Some of the characteristics of teenagers are:

· Curiosity and willingness to learn things they consider useful

· Enjoy solving “real-life” problems

· Focused on themselves and how they are perceived by their peers

· Resists adult authority and asserts independence

· Optimism.

WHO IS AN ENTREPRENEUR?

An entrepreneur can be described as someone who uses his or her creativity to serve the needs of others. According to Richard Branson, being an entrepreneur is simply turning what excites you in life into capital, that is, a money making venture. It is all about doing something you love doing and making money from it. Any person who develops an idea, starts, finances and runs a business venture can be called an entrepreneur.

Some of the important and useful tips for teenage entrepreneurs are as follow:

· Think about what you love and are passionate about.

· Should have proper direction and know what you want.

· Use the resources gathered and developed during the education from schools.

· Look for a mentor for proper guidance. (talk to your parents and guardians about your ideas)

· Have confidence in yourself and your ideas

AGE IS NO BARRIER

Most of the successful people in business today started when they were young, many as teenage entrepreneurs. This is because this is the stage when ideas are fresh and the drive to succeed is at its highest level. For teenagers, now is the best time to start your own business venture. Experts say starting a business when you are young will increase your chances of succeeding, considering the luxury of time you have. There are fewer distractions such as family, job and adult obligations.

Teenage entrepreneurs are people who start working early. In their teenage years, they are already owners of their own businesses or preparing to launch something. Teenage entrepreneurs are available in different industries and sectors. Their success rate is also enviable. Many studies and research among the teenagers of different schools and places have revealed that most of them want to be an entrepreneur or do something of their own at sometime of their life.
